Ongoing
issues with the US are irresolvable: Iranian Supreme Leader
Iran's
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has said that ongoing issues with the United
States are 'unresolvable'.
The British
news agency Reuters reported on Sunday, citing Iranian state media, that
negotiations on Iran's nuclear program are at a standstill, while Iran is not
ready to bow to pressure from Washington.
Iran had
announced that it would suspend nuclear talks with the United States the day
after Israel and the United States attacked its territory.
Supreme
Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's statement came at a time when two days ago, on
Friday, Iran and European powers agreed to resume efforts to fully resume
nuclear talks.
According to
Iranian state media, Ayatollah Khamenei said that 'he wants to see Iran
obedient to the United States.' The Iranian nation will stand with all its
might against such false hopes.
He said,
“Those who are telling us not to raise slogans against America for direct talks
with the US are seeing the surface, this issue is not going to be resolved.”
On the other
hand, France, Britain and Germany have said that if Iran does not return to the
negotiating table, UN sanctions may be reimposed on it.
The US, as
well as European countries, maintain that Iran is working on developing nuclear
weapons, while Iran says it is only interested in nuclear energy.
