Secretary of State’s hasty visit to Doha after Israel return

The US Secretary of State made a hasty visit to Doha after returning from Israel, where he met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

According to the International News Agency, the visit was hastily arranged. In the meeting, which lasted a little less than an hour, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio pledged full support for Qatar’s security and sovereignty.

A State Department spokesperson said that Marco Rubio affirmed the strong bilateral relationship between the US and Qatar and thanked Qatar for its efforts to end the war in Gaza and repatriate all hostages.

Marco Rubio himself had previously said that despite the Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, the US and Qatar would work to finalize a defense agreement soon.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said that he would appeal to Qatar to continue playing the role of mediator, as he has done in the past.

He added that if there is any country in the world that can help end the war through negotiations, it is Qatar.

Marco Rubio’s visit is also an attempt to reassure Qatar that the Israeli attacks have undermined security promises made by its key ally to the Gulf emirate.

It should be noted that in a conversation with journalists, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said that his country appreciates American support, but of course this attack has intensified the need for defense agreements between us and the United States.

It should be remembered that a week ago, Israel targeted the senior leadership of Hamas in Doha while they were consulting on the American proposal for a Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The Hamas leadership was safe in the Israeli attack, but six people, including the son of Khalil Al-Haya, were martyred.
