These four habits that slowly destroy the human brain
Our brain is
busy working every day, controlling important functions like memory, attention,
emotions, and decision-making, but according to experts, most of us unknowingly
adopt habits that can damage brain health over time.
Renowned
neurosurgeon Dr. Richard Wena, who has more than 25 years of experience in
neurosurgery, has identified four common habits in a post on Instagram that can
damage the brain.
1:
Insufficient sleep
According to
Dr. Wena, consistently low sleep weakens the brain's ability to repair itself.
A brain that does not get enough sleep cannot eliminate toxic substances and
cannot store memory properly, which affects mental performance.
2: Avoid
exercise
Exercise
increases blood flow to the brain, which improves memory and attention. Dr. Richard
Wena says that physical activity is not only important for the body but also
for mental sharpness and clear thinking.
3:
Constant mental stress
Dr. Wena
warned that long-term mental stress increases the level of a hormone called
cortisol, which can damage brain cells. Meditation can be helpful in
controlling mental stress.
4:
Excessive consumption of processed foods
According to
the doctor, diets high in sweets and refined carbohydrates can increase
inflammation in the brain and age it quickly. Eating a complete and balanced
diet helps improve mental health.
