Trump administration's new travel restrictions deny citizens of 20 more countries entry into the US
Washington:
US President
Donald Trump has taken another tough step in his travel policy, banning
citizens of 20 more countries from traveling to the United States. The new
restrictions will come into effect from January 1.
Under the
new policy, students from these countries, family members of US citizens and
Afghan special immigrant visa holders will also be subject to restrictions.
According to
US media, the countries whose citizens are being completely banned include
Syria, South Sudan, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
In addition,
people whose travel documents have been issued by the Palestinian Authority
will also be banned from traveling to the United States.
Under the
same policy, partial travel restrictions have also been imposed on citizens of
some countries. These countries include Angola, Antigua, Barbuda, Benin,
Ivory Coast, Dominica, Gabon, Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal,
Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
It should be
noted that President Trump had previously imposed travel restrictions on citizens
of 12 countries, including Afghanistan, in June.
After
President Trump's latest decision, the total number of countries affected by
the travel restrictions has increased to 35.
