iPhone 17 Pro vs. older iPhones: What key feature is missing in the new model?
When a user
buys a new smartphone, his first expectation is that he will get the best and
latest features.
Older
devices usually get many new features through software updates, but some very
interesting and important capabilities are usually reserved only for the newest
handsets.
According to
the technology news platform ‘Tech Radar’, there has been an unexpected turn in
the world of iPhone where there is a feature that older iPhones can easily use,
but surprisingly, users of iPhone 17 Pro models are deprived of this facility.
What feature
is missing from the iPhone 17 Pro?
According to
a report by TechRadar, users on Reddit and some Apple forums have claimed that
it is not possible to use Night Mode when taking portrait shots on the iPhone
17 Pro.
A user named
‘Catalytic Clover’ on Reddit complained that ‘portrait photos at night are not
as good as they could be and it is a low-level thing compared to the quality
obtained from previous models.’
This claim
has also been confirmed by ‘Macworld’, according to which Apple’s support
document includes models from iPhone 12 Pro to iPhone 16 Pro Max among the
devices that are capable of using both these camera features simultaneously,
while the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have been excluded from this
list.
It is
currently unclear why the latest iPhone models are unable to use Night Mode and
Portrait Mode at the same time. This is disappointing news for users who want
to take slightly more ‘artistic’ and aesthetic shots at night.
Typically,
Portrait Mode gives the option to blur the background and Night Mode enables
long exposures in low light. If the two are combined correctly, the best and
most dramatic photos can be obtained in night light.
Despite all
this, other significant camera upgrades have been made in the iPhone 17 Pro
models. Compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, all three of its lenses are now offered
with 48 megapixel resolution.
In addition,
the front camera of the iPhone 17 Pro has also been upgraded, allowing the user
to take both portrait and landscape selfies without rotating the phone.
Not only
that, but now video recording can also be done simultaneously with both the
front and rear cameras.
Looking at
it this way, not all the benefits are gone, but there is no doubt that removing
the simultaneous operation of Night Mode and Portrait Mode from the iPhone 17
Pro's feature list certainly seems a bit strange. It is also possible that
there is a technical reason for this.
